TOWSON, Md. - Josh Danza, a graduate student on the Tiger men's soccer team, has a maturity that is rare to find among collegiate student-athletes. Perhaps that is because Danza is a well-traveled, seasoned veteran - something hard to find in the college ranks.

Danza spent part of the summer training with the Puerto Rican National team, after spending four years playing for nearby Stevenson University, starring for the Mustangs.

At Stevenson, Danza was a 2010 NSCAA All-East Region Selection. Equally impressive, he also proved his mettle in the classroom, earning a spot on the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic team three times.

According to Towson head coach Frank Olszewski, the heady, smart play of Danza will instantly boost the Tigers' skill level.

"Josh is an excellent addition to our team," the Tiger coach said. "He leads by example and never fails to give you his best effort. He brings so many intangibles that are clearly evident in his daily presence and personality."

Perhaps his most outstanding trait is his drive to succeed, something that can be increbily useful for a young team like the Tigers. If his younger teammates follow the example of Danza and team leaders Daniel Grundei and Christian Höfer, it help make the rest of the team better in the future.

"He is extremely committed, goal oriented, and willing to do whatever he can for the success of the team," Olszewski said. "Josh has worked extremely hard to reach this point in his career and while he is talented, he will be better tomorrow than he was today because of that work ethic."
