FAIRFAX, Va. – Freshman Andy Disco set a Towson school record for the men’s 400-yard individual medley at the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships Friday evening at the Jim McKay Natatorium, helping the Tigers to a strong third day of competition. Towson finished the day with 160 points and has already eclipsed last year's 152-point output with one day remaining.

Disco won the 400-yard individual medley consolation event, posting a time of 3:58.13 and breaking Aaron Krause’s school record of 3:59.76 set in 2004. Disco’s time also broke the school’s freshman record by over 7.5 seconds.

"He keeps getting faster and faster," Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. "The other thing is, he's coachable."

Towson received a terrific performance from junior Joe Mills in the 400-yard individual medley, timing a 4:02.31 in the preliminaries of the event that qualified him for the finals. Mills finished the finals in eighth place with a time of 4:03.99 and earned the praise of his head coach.

"Joe is a perfect example of what we look for in our program," Mead said. "He is setting himself up for his senior year. It was an outstanding swim. That's the progression we want to see in our student-athletes."

The CAA Championships will conclude Saturday, with the events beginning at 10 a.m.
