Sing Wins to Lead VMI Contingent at RU

RADFORD, Va. - Jennifer Sing won the women's pole vault, leading a small contingent of VMI track and field athletes at the Radford Invitational, which held its first day of competition Friday in Radford, Va.

Sing, a week after earning her third straight All-Big South honor in the event, took the pole vault title with a clearance of 3.65 meters (11'11 ¾") at a facility at which she holds the track record, a 12'5 ½" vault last year. Teammate Kate Collins cleared 3.50 meters (11'5 ¾") and wound up fifth.

Mary Grace Lemon and Renee Reives were also in action, with Lemon finishing fifth (40.84 M/133'11 ¾") and Reives sixth (40.37 M/132'5 ¼") in the discus throw.

VMI track and field returns to action Saturday, wrapping up action at the Radford Invitational. Action will get underway at 9 a.m.
