Canisius College freshman golfer Cory Cullen posted his first career top-10 finish, sophomore Andrew Romano tied for 12th in the field and the Golden Griffins placed seventh as a team as the Blue and Gold wrapped up their weekend trip to the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y. Canisius shot 301 in Sunday's final round to post a three-round tally of 911.
Cullen shot a two-over par score of 73 in the third round to post a tournament score of 223 for 54 holes. Romano also shot a 73 on Sunday to finish the event with a score of 224, which tied him for 12th. Sophomore Hunter Sagar tied for 28th after he shot a 77 in the final round.
Towson won the team championship by with its team score of 895. Drexel finished second with a score of 900, while Cornell, Dartmouth and Binghamton finished thrird through fifth. Drexel golfer Christopher Crawford won the tournament with his score of 210, which was three-under par.
Canisius will continue its fall schedule Sept. 28, when the team takes part in the annual Little Three Championship against local rivals Niagara and St. Bonaventure. The Griffs enter that event as the three-time defending champions.
