Darrell Barley ('96) - Helped the Griffs to three-straight tournament appearances, including one in the NIT Final Four and one in the NCAA Tournament...A captain as a senior, Barley brought the team to the 1996 MAAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance...The MAAC Player of the Year was sidelined with a thumb injury that required surgery for the tournament in Albany, the Griffs promptly responded by winning three-straight games to capture their first MAAC title and extend Barley’s career...The run, dubbed “One for the Thumb,” has become a part of Canisius basketball lore...Despite playing in just seven games in his freshman season, Barley finished fifth on the Canisius career scoring list with 1,587 points and eighth in rebounding with 692...Earned first-team All-MAAC honors in 1996, second-team accolades in 1994 and 1995, and his teams won 72 games, including 34 in the MAAC, during his career.
