Martin P. Hurley ('91, 98 MBA) -A four-year letter winner in football, Martin P. Hurley
earned All-American honors at cornerback before concluding his career as the
Griffs quarterback. As a defensive
player, Hurley made 163 tackles, recorded 18 interceptions and was credited
with 22 pass deflections and two fumble recoveries. He earned first team Little
All-America honors from the Associated Press in 1988, as well as receiving
national honors from the Football Gazette. During that season he ranked
fourth nationally in interceptions with eight and became the first Griff to
ever score a defensive extra point. In 1987 and 1989 he was named a first-team
ECAC Upstate All-Star. During his senior year, he moved to quarterback and
threw for 1,471 yards, the third most in a single season in Canisius history.
Included was a 310 yard effort in a thrilling one point win over the University at Buffalo.
