CEDAR CITY, Utah, March 20 - Southern Utah's Olia Tatarchenko has been named this week's Summit League women's tennis player of the week.

Tatarchenko, a junior from Rostov On Don, Russia, compiled a perfect 8-0 record in combined singles and doubles in the Thunderbirds' four Summit League matches last week.

She teamed with Alex Ivanova to go 4-0 in doubles matches vs. IUPUI, IPFW, UMKC and South Dakota and also went undefeated in her singles matches against players from the four schools.

She also gave the Thunderbireds the match-clincher in the team's wins over IUPUI and South Dakota. On Thursday, with the match against IUPUI tied 3-3, Tatarchenko defeated Shelby Hullett, 6-1, 6-2 for the final point of the match. Then on Saturday, with SUU holding a 3-2 lead she weathered two rain-delays to outlast South Dakota's Shadi Soleymani, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the win for the Thunderbirds.

The award is SUU's and Tatarchenko's first this spring.
