Lady Tigers turn focus to Lipscomb

GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will play its second game in three days when the Lady Tigers travel across town to match-up with the Bisons of Lipscomb University on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Allen Arena.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State's record moved to 3-6 on Sunday after falling to Cleveland State, 66-59, in the Gentry Center. TSU has dropped four of its last six contests, including three straight.

TSU is 1-3 on the road this season and only has one player averaging double-figures in scoring. Simone Hopes leads the team with 10.0 ppg as well as 7.4 rpg.

As a team, TSU is averaging 54.4 points per outing while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 24.8 percent from beyond the arc. TSU is currently shooting only 67.3 percent from the free-throw line while committing an average of 17.0 turnovers per game.

TSU averages 36.8 rebounds, 9.7 assists and 9.2 steals per game.

ABOUT LIPSCOMB
Lipscomb opened the season with six straight losses before finally picking up a win over OVC member Jacksonville State, 67-54. The Bisons fell to 1-7 after dropping their most recent contest to Georgia on the road.

In the loss to Georgia, Hannah Phillips was the only player to reach double-figures in scoring while Alex Banks followed with eight.

Lipscomb, a member of the Atlantic Sun, averages 48.8 points per game behind a 34.9 shooting percentage. The Bisons pull down 34.6 rebounds per game and average 20.8 miscues per outing.

Phillips leads the team with 12.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per outing. She is the only player averaging double-figures. Presley Stastny (9.3 ppg) and Banks (5.3 ppg) round out the top three scorers for Lipscomb.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
TSU will break for the Christmas holiday before returning to the court at home against Eastern Illinois in the first Ohio Valley Conference action of the season on Dec. 29.
