Nashville, Tenn. - On Wednesday, the Tennessee State University Athletics department released times for all home games on the upcoming 2012 football schedule.
This season, the Tigers are scheduled to play five home games - two at LP Field and three at Hale Stadium.
The Big Blue's first scheduled contest is on Sept. 1 at LP Field for the John Merritt Classic. The game will start at 6 p.m. as the Tigers take on the Rattlers of Florida A&M in honor of former legendary TSU football coach John Merritt.
The team will then travel to Memphis on Sept. 8 to take part in the Southern Heritage Classic presented by Fed Ex. The contest is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. time with the Tigers facing off against rival Jackson State.
The following Saturday on Sept. 15, TSU hosts Austin Peay as the team returns to Hale Stadium for the first time since 1998. The game is slated to start at 1 p.m. All fans are encouraged to wear blue for the 'Blue Out' game.
Following the team's first taste of OVC play, the Tigers will hit the road for another non-conference opponent in Bethune-Cookman. The game will start at 3 p.m. CT on Sept. 22 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Homecoming will be held on the following weekend as TSU returns to LP Field to host Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The game starts at 5 p.m.
The month of Oct. will start with another home game for Big Blue on Oct. 6. This time, the team will play in Hale Stadium for the second time this season. Like the first, this game will also start at 1 p.m. and the Tigers will go up another OVC opponent in Eastern Kentucky. This game will also be the date of TigerFest and Biker's Day.
The Tigers start a two-game road trip on the following two weeks as the team travels to Southeast Missouri on Oct. 13 and Jacksonville State on Oct.20. The game against the Redhawks is slated for a 6 p.m. start, while the contest at Jacksonville State is scheduled for a 3 p.m. kick.
Big Blue's final home game of the season will be against Tennessee Tech on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at Hale Stadium. The game will mark the last home game for the seniors.
The season's final two games will be played on the road against OVC opponents Murray State and UT Martin. The Murray State game will be held on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. while the UT Martin game will close Big Blue's regular season on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. All times are subject to change.
