WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 1, 2012) - Senior forward Chris Malcolm was named Rollins' first Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year, it was announced Thursday. The top-shot blocker in school history, Malcolm also earned a spot on the All-SSC Second Team.

Malcolm led Rollins, the conference and was 11th in the nation with 2.7 blocks per game. His 69 total blocks set a new Rollins record, surpassing Obiora Nnaji's 61 swats during the 1999-00 season.

In his two-year Rollins career, Malcolm has racked up 116 blocks and became the Tars all-time leader by 11. Adding in two seasons with Winthrop, Malcolm earned 171 blocks, averaging 1.1 per game. He is also the Tars single-game record holder with nine blocks against Saint Leo in 2011.

An Orlando native, Malcolm was second on the team with 10.8 points and first with 6.2 rebounds a game. He led Rollins in scoring four times and recorded a career-high 28 points against Central Washington in Las Vegas.
