LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 20, 2012) - After another record book season, the Rollins volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as the team was awarded for their efforts off the court.  Rollins was one of 534 teams across the nation to garner the 2011-12 AVCA Team Academic Award, it was announced Friday.

The honor is only the second for the Tars in program history and comes after Rollins posted their second consecutive 20+ win season with an overall mark of 24-11.  The team's 11 conference wins also marked the most league wins in program history.

The Tars earn this award after posting a 3.5 GPA, which honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom.

Rollins will kick off their 2012 campaign in the friendly confines of Warden Arena as they host the Rollins Invitational on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
