WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 6, 2012)- The Rollins men's lacrosse was hampered by a slow start against the Tampa Spartans, which proved to be too much to overcome in the late stages of the game. The Tars finished their season with a 3-12 record, while Tampa improved to 11-4 with a 15-8 victory, Friday evening.

The Spartans started quickly scoring six unanswered goals through the first 20 minutes. Chuck Magid got the Tars on the board with a nifty shot that found the back of the net to give Rollins some life. Tampa held a 6-1 lead heading into the break and looked to add to the lead late in the half, but Sheerin and the Tars turned them away.

Coming out of the break both teams battled and struggled to score with each side netting two goals to keep the lead at five for the Spartans.

Michael Lupinacci led the Tars offense with two goals and one assist. James Libutti also proved to be an offensive catalyst with one goal and two helpers of his own and was joined by Jack Dever, Peter Harvey, Chuck Magid, Oliver Moore and Stepen DeFlumeri on the scoresheet with each player registering a goal.

Andrew Sheerin gave a valiant effort, but could not hold the attack of the Spartans at bay. Sheerin racked up 14 saves.
