Seniors Chris Berry (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Tara Gietema (Knoxville, Tenn.) each finished second in their respective races in the final home event for each runner.
Gietema ran a career-best time 11:33 over the 2-mile course to finish second behind Middle Tennessee's Lucy Kapkiai. Sarah White-Woerner (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was fourth for UTC with a time of 12:04 followed by freshman Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.) in sixth place at 12:17.
Sophomore Morgan Buchanan (Johnson City, Tenn.) was the fourth UTC runner across the finish line with a time of 13:00. Sophomore Gabby Cader (Cleveland, Tenn.) was the fifth Chattanooga runner to finish with a time of 13:14.
Middle Tennessee won the race with a team score of points and Chattanooga was second with score of 42 points. UT-Martin was third overall with 55 points followed by Tennessee State with 120 points and Trevecca had 127 points.
In the men's race, Berry was edged at the finish line by Middle Tennessee's Justus David by one second. Berry ran the 5-kilometer course in a time of 14:59. Sophomore Lucas Cotter (Collierville, Tenn.) placed third in the race with a time of 15:05.
Junior Mark Cole (McKenzie, Tenn.) pushed forward to finish fifth for UTC with a time of 15:36. He was followed immediately by sophomore Nathan Wanuch (Mississauga, Ontario) with a time of 15:43. Sophomore Drew Austell (Memphis,Tenn.) was the fifth UTC finisher with a time of 16:36.
Middle Tennessee was the overall winner with 29 points, edging the Mocs who had 30 points. Martin was a distant third with 66 points followed by Tennessee State with 117 and Trevecca with 128 points.
Chattanooga will return to action Saturday, October 29 for the Southern Conference Championships at Trophy Lake in Charleston , S.C.
