STARKVILLE, Miss. ‑ A trio of Mississippi State volleyball players are on the ballot for 2010 CoSIDA Academic All‑District honors. The award is the first step in the selection process for academic all‑America team honors presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Sophomore outside hitter Chanelle Baker (Carrollton, Texas), senior middle blocker Ashley Newsome (Florence, Ala.), and senior libero Kayla Woodard (Addison, Ala.) are among 13 players from the Southeastern Conference and 72 volleyball student‑athletes from the four‑state district (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi) on the ballot that have met both academic and athletic qualifying standards for the award.

First, second and third‑team academic all‑district teams will be selected in online voting by members of the national organization of college sports publicists, with the six first‑team honorees advancing to consideration for the 2010 CoSIDA Academic All‑America team.
