Still fresh on the mind of the Lady Bulldogs is their second-place, 891 card in the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate on March 27. Not only was it the best team finish in six years, but it also marked the first time a pair of MSU freshmen turned in Top 5 cards in the same event.
Rica Tse turned in a career-best fourth-place finish with a three-round 216, and Ally McDonald notched a 70-71-71=212 en route to earning runner-up honors and garnering SEC Women's Golfer of the Week laurels.
The Lady Bulldogs will face SEC-foe and host Ole Miss as well as future SEC cohort Missouri during this weekend's event. Other teams include No. 17 Baylor, Harvard, Kansas State, Maryland, Memphis, Miami, Minnesota, Murray State, Redlands, Rollins, Southern Miss and Tulsa.
Ginger Brown-Lemm is sending the same lineup as she has all spring. Ranked as the 6th-best trio of freshmen in the nation according to GolfStat.com's Freshman Impact Rankings, McDonald, Tse and Elena Warren will lead the charge north followed by Perry Katherine Furr and Mary Langdon Gallagher.
"We saw a little reward from our hard work last week with our runner-up finish," Brown-Lemm said. "We have a chance to do the same this week if we focus on one shot at a time. Our team is familiar with this course, and I hope that pays dividends for us this week."
Live stats will be available through HailState.com beginning Friday at 8 a.m. CST.
After the Rebel Intercollegiate, MSU travels to Fayetteville, Ark., on April 20-22 for the SEC Championship.
