For the second straight year, the Lady Mocs finished third in the league standings with a 16-4 SoCon record and will take on either No. 6 Furman or No. 11 UNCG Saturday night at the Kimmel Arena on the UNC Asheville campus. The Lady Mocs won both games against the Spartans while UTC and Furman each won their home contest.
Chattanooga finished the regular season with a 21-8 overall record, its 12th 20-win season in 13 years and 16th in school history.
Senior Whitney Hood (Meridian, Miss.) leads the Southern Conference in field goal percentage making 49.7 percent of her attempts and is sixth in the league in scoring with a team-high 13.0 points per game. She closed out the year with a 20-point performance against Appalachian State in the season finale.
Sophomore Taylor Hall (New Tazewell, Tenn.) led Chattanooga in scoring in the final two games, earning her a first SoCon Player of the Week nod. She is second in the conference in rebounding with 8.7 boards per game and 26th in the scoring with 8.8 points per game.
Junior Kayla Christopher (Oliver Springs, Tenn.) has a team-high 46 3-pointers and is seventh in the league standings in 3-point field goal percentage making 36.8 percent of her shots and is 42.6 percent from the field.
Chattanooga is fourth in the conference in scoring with 62.7 points per game and is fourth in scoring defense allowing 57 points per game. The Lady Mocs regained their SoCon lead in free throw percentage making 73.6 percent of their attempts. On the boards, Chattanooga is third in the conference with 41.1 rebounds per game and second in rebounding margin outdueling opponents by 4.6 on the boards.
