Mocs Volleyball Announces Spring Dates

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team will play three matches this spring, concluding with the second-annual Volleyball Alumni Match on April 15 at 3 p.m., in Maclellan Gym. Head coach Travis Filar additionally announced that the program's volleyball camps are set to begin on June 1, July 26, July 28 and July 30, and the complete brochure is available via the link above.

"This is an exciting time of year for us," said coach Filar. "Our student-athletes have come back for our spring season with an awesome mindset full of determination and positive energy. The spring is a time for being together as a team, becoming stronger and faster in the weight room, so that those skills transfer onto the court.

"For the first time since I have been here, we have had the opportunity to technically break down each fundamental skill and position on the court. I am really pleased with the improvements that the student-athletes have already made and all of the hard work that our team is putting in. "

The Lady Mocs open the spring schedule at Georgia Tech on Saturday, March 3 at 11 a.m. That match is followed by a contest at Lee University on Friday, March 23, which is set to begin at 4 p.m.

"Now it is time to put that work to the test by competing against two really good programs in Georgia Tech and Lee," said coach Filar. "It is always great to have our alumni back, and we will look forward to hosting them again."

Coach Filar welcomes back all the alumni of the program for a spring match on Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m., to conclude the team's off-season work outs each year. It is an opportunity for the current Mocs players to interact and bridge a connection with the former student-athletes that helped to build the program.

Prior to the team's alumni match, coach Filar and his assistants Savanah Parra and Taylor Wittmer will conduct a free coaches clinic for all levels of volleyball coaches (YMCA, middle school, high school and club) at 1 p.m.

Also another way to learn is through Satellite Camps for middle and high school programs that are available in June and July, where members of the Chattanooga Volleyball coaching staff and team, will travel to your local school and run a camp fit to the specific needs of your program.  If interested, please contact Travis Filar directly at or 423-425-4069.

Be sure to check back at for updates this spring on the work Chattanooga volleyball is doing in the community. Coach Filar and his student-athletes will be active in working with the youth in the Scenic City.

"The other great thing about the spring season is it gives us more time to do something I think that is important for our program," said coach Filar. "We are going to be giving back to the city of Chattanooga.  Our student-athletes and staff will be participating in some great events around town. We are looking forward to continue building strong connections with this amazing community."
