University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis senior Emily Hangstefer was officially presented with the Herb Adcox Endowment Scholarship today.  A native of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Hangstefer is a four-year letter winner for the Lady Mocs.

The Adcox Endowment Scholarship is presented by longtime UTC supporter Herb Adcox.  The scholarship is a $1,500 annual gift for a member of the Lady Mocs tennis team.  One of the leading auto dealers in the Chattanooga area and owner of Herb Adcox Automotive, Adcox has been an avid supporter of UTC since coming to the Scenic City in 1955.

Hangstefer was a member of the SoCon All-Freshman team in 2009 and has been in the starting lineup throughout her career.  She guided the Lady Mocs to a 16-6 overall record in 2012, the most wins for the program since 1999.  Individually, Hangstefer had a career-best 21-9 singles record and was also 21-9 in doubles action.

Adcox has a close connection with UTC tennis.  His granddaughter, Grace Robinette, played for the Lady Mocs from 2008-11 and is currently an assistant coach.  His grandson, Reaves Robinette, who is also Grace's older brother, is also an assistant coach with the women's tennis team at UTC.
