Chattanooga completed its home schedule at Frost Stadium with a series sweep of Furman. Seniors Michelle Fuzzard (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Vivian Morimoto (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Jessica Traxler (Chino Hills, Calif.) were honored prior to the home finale on April 29.
The Lady Mocs opened the weekend with a 2-0 shutout victory of the Paladins. Driving in the two runs were junior first baseman Kasey Tydingco (Fairfield, Calif.) and freshman third baseman Sarah Beth Roberts (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.). Freshman Taylor Deason (Clarksville, Tenn.) and Fuzzard combined in the shutout as the duo fanned two, while Fuzzard registered her first save of the season.
Chattanooga opened with a 6-3 lead, but the Paladins would come back to take a 7-6 lead. Morimoto connected on a RBI double to knot the contest at seven. The Lady Mocs used the long ball to put the contest out of reach as freshman outfielder Cheyenne Willis (Manchester, Tenn.) connected on a three-run shot and Fuzzard drilled a two-run homer.
In the finale, the Lady Mocs opened with a 5-0 lead through three innings. Furman would comeback to eventually tie it at five, which included a grand slam. Traxler put the Lady Mocs ahead with a RBI single and Fuzzard would provide the insurance with a two-run round tripper in her final at bat at Frost Stadium.
