CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule Friday night at Gardner-Webb.

The Mocs (1-3-1) posted a season-opening win against Tennessee Temple but have not yet found their way back into the win column. UTC fell to Tennessee Tech 2-0 in the opening weekend and lost 1-0 to Alabama A&M despite outshooting the Hornet. On the road, the Mocs went into double overtime with Lipscomb but could not break the 2-2 tie and fell 4-1 to Austin Peay two days later.

The Gardner-Webb match will have live stats on GoMocs.com and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
Chattanooga is 1-1-1 against Gardner-Webb including 3-3 double-overtime tie last season at Finley Stadium. The Bulldogs have not played since Aug. 26 where they fell 3-0 to North Florida. Wofford edged GWU 1-0 in the season-opener and Georgia Southern posted a 3-0 win in Statesboro.

SENIOR BECCA SMITH CLIMBS UTC'S ALL-TIME RANKINGS
Senior Becca Smith (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) continues her ascent up the all-time scoring rankings at UTC. She scored goals in last weekend's games at Lipscomb and Austin Peay to move her to second on the all-time scoring chart with 80 career points. She trails Diana Jallo's (2002-05) 87 points and surpassed former teammate Donna-Kay Henry's (2008-11) 78 in the UTC record books. She now has 33 career goals, moving past Henry and trailing Jallo by four. Her 14 career assists trail Maya Peel's (2003-05) 18 and Henry's 16. Smith is a preseason All-Southern Conference selection after leading the league in scoring and goals with a school-record 37 points on 16 goals and five assists in 2011.

FRESHMEN HAVING A BIG IMPACT
The Lady Mocs have five freshmen in their starting lineup and they have had a big impact in the opening weekend. Newcomers scored six of the nine goals, eight of the nine assists and logged a shutout in the 6-0 win over Tennessee Temple. Forward Hannah Wyatt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) has one goal and a team-high three assists while midfielder Skylar Brewer (Farragut, Tenn.) has two goals and one assist. The duo is second on the team in scoring with five points.

EXCELLENT IN THE CLASSROOM
The Lady Mocs have been outstanding in the classroom over the last three years. They have maintained at least a 3.0 team grade-point-average since the fall of 2009. During that span, at least 10 members of the team have made the Dean's List (3.2+ g.p.a.) each semester.

HEAD COACH J.D. KYZER
J.D. Kyzer is in this 13th season at Chattanooga and his 18th as a collegiate head coach. The 2003 SoCon Coach of the Year is the all-time winningest coach at UTC.
