Lake Buena Vista, FL - The Loyola University Maryland men's and Siena College women's teams lead after the first day of the 2012 MAAC Golf Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
The Greyhounds posted a score of 286 to lead the way. Saint Peter's College is currently in second with a 291 with Canisius College in thirdat 298. Fairfield University is fourth (302) and Iona College is fifth (303). Manhattan College is in sixth with 311, followed by Rider University (314), and Siena and Niagara University (315).
Loyola senior Jay Mulieri is the individual leader after 18 holes after posting a 70 (-2). Mulieri has now shot par or better in six straight rounds. Three players - Loyola's Ryan McCarthy, Canisius' Joe Vogl, and Saint Peter's T.J. Sumigray - sit one shot back in second place.
On the women's side, Siena posted a score of 321 to lead by eight strokes over University of Hartford (329). Fairfield sits in third after a combined score of 339. Boston University is fourth (342), followed by Niagara (345), and University at Albany (364).
Hartford's Sarah Sideranko, the 2010 MAAC Champion, sits atop the leaderboard after the first round. Sideranko carded a 74 to lead by three strokes over Siena's Victoria Nguyen.
Competition will resume tomorrow with the men teeing off at 7:30 a.m. from the first hole, followed by the women at 7:50 a.m. from the tenth tee.
