Kyan Brown, who helped ORU to its first Mid-Continent Conference basketball championship in 1999, begins his seventh season on staff at ORU during the 2014-15 season.

Brown, who graduated from ORU in 2001, spent four years (2004-08) as an assistant coach at Missouri State under former Golden Eagles head coach Barry Hinson prior to returning to his alma mater.

Originally serving as the recruiting coordinator, Brown was elevated to assistant coach prior to the 2012-13 season and his duties include scouting, on-court instruction, recruiting and working with the forwards and centers, helping Damen Bell-Holter to a first team all-conference and record breaking season in 2012-13. 

In his five seasons at ORU, ORU has posted three 20-win seasons, three postseason berths, four NABC all-district selections, and 12 all-conference selections.

Prior to his stint at Missouri State, Brown served an assistant at Arkansas-Ft. Smith, helping the Lions to 43-17 record in two seasons (2002-04).

Immediately after graduating from ORU, Brown spent the 2001-02 season as freshman boys basketball coach and assistant varsity coach at Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa.

In three seasons as a player for the Golden Eagles (1998-2001), Brown appeared in 77 games with 34 starts, including 26 as a senior under then-rookie head coach Scott Sutton. As a senior, Brown averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Brown and his wife, Suzanne, have three children: Khloe, Caleb and Sophie.
