UNC Asheville volleyball player Holly Shelton is the first winner of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Athlete of the Week at UNC Asheville.

Each week the school will select BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week’s play.

Shelton enjoyed a tremendous week as she led the Bulldogs to three wins in four matches. Holly began the week with a career-high 23 kills and career-best 17 digs against Western Carolina Tuesday night at Justice Center. She helped lead Asheville’s comeback win against the Catamounts as the Bulldogs lost the first two sets of the match before storming back to win.

The Brevard native had 23 kills again as the Bulldogs knocked off UNC Greensboro on the road in five sets Friday night. She also had 11 digs. Shelton finished the week off with nine kills and seven digs in a 3-0 win over North Carolina A&T. Holly was then selected to make the All-Tournament team at the Spartan-Aggie Invitational.
