University of Northern Iowa softball pitcher Jamie Fisher (Conrad, Iowa) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Fisher put together another impressive week in the circle posting a 3-0 record and a .028 ERA after her 4 starts. After picking up a win from Bradley on Wednesday, Fisher completed her week with a pair of wins over Southern Illinois this weekend. Fisher pitched 25 innings, allowing 10 hits, one run, and struck out 21 batters while walking just six. Fisher silenced bats throughout the weekend, and has currently tossed 15 consecutive innings of not allowing an opponent past second base.
Fisher is 20-2 on the season with a league-leading 1.35 earned run average. Fisher is one win away from tying the UNI school record for wins in a season (21 - set by Sarah O'Byrne in 1990).
UNI will complete the home regular season this Saturday (Noon, 2 p.m.) and Sunday (Noon) against the Illinois State Redbirds. UNI has clinched the No. 1 seed for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament set for May 10-12 in Carbondale, Ill.
