CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - University of Northern Iowa senior women's basketball player Jacqui Kalin has officially been granted a waiver by the NCAA, providing her with a sixth year of eligibility for the 2012-13 season.

Kalin missed the entire 2011-12 season after sustaining a torn ACL in September. She also used a redshirt for the 2008-09 season, sitting out the year with an ankle injury.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have Jacqui Kalin be a part of our program for one more year," said UNI head coach Tanya Warren. "She exemplifies what a student-athlete should be, and we couldn't be happier to have her represent this University for another season. She has worked very hard for this opportunity."

Kalin was named the Jackie Stiles Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year following the 2010-11 season in which she led the Panthers to a 27-6 record and MVC regular-season and tournament championships. She was also honored as the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and claimed second-team Academic All-American honors that season.

Kalin is the fifth-leading scorer in UNI history, having tallied 1,419 points in 102 career games. She is UNI's all-time leader in free throw percentage, No. 4 all-time in three-pointers made and No. 6 in school history in assists.

For the 2010-11 season, Kalin led the Panthers with 15.3 points per contest and ranked No. 5 in the nation with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.51.

In addition to Kalin, UNI will return three players with significant starting experience for the 2012-13 season in Amber Kirschbaum, Mercedees Morgan and Brooke Brown. Jess McDowell, Brittni Donaldson and Sharnae Lamar all also return after averaging 10 or more minutes per game this year.
