SKILLMAN, N.J. (July 9, 2012) - Rollins men's tennis was named an ITA All-Academic Team, it was announced Monday.
The Tars were one of 21 squads honored on the list, which recognizes teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. Men's tennis was second in the Rollins athletic department with a combined 3.57 GPA.
Six players were named ITA Scholar Athletes; Bernardo Barroso, Ari Davis, Sebastian Hafner, Lucas Jovita, Jeff Morris and Andrew Mulick.
Jovita and Morris also each earned All-America honors on the court earlier in the year. Jovita was the second-ranked singles player in the nation while Morris finished the year ranked 10th. In doubles, Jovita and Jason Alabaster earned All-America honors, ranking 10th in the final poll.
The academic awards come on the heels of a banner year on the courts for the Tars as they finished the season ranked sixth in the nation. Rollins was 17-9 overall on the year and finished runner-up in the Sunshine State Conference with a mark of 5-1.
The 2012 fall season kicks off Sept. 14-16 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational.
