Ogilvie Announces 2019-20 Track & Field Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. – Director of Track & Field Norm Ogilvie announced the upcoming 2019-20 indoor and outdoor men’s and women’s schedule today. During the 2020 outdoor campaign, the Blue Devils will host the Battle of the Blues on April 4, the Duke Invite on April 17-18 and the Duke Twilight on May 3. Duke will also play host to the ACC Outdoor Championships on May 14-16.

“As Duke track and field heads into an Olympic year in 2020, we looked to put together a track and field schedule that will give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of ACC, NCAA and Olympic level competition,” said Ogilvie. “We expect to have several current and recent Blue Devils competing at the Olympic Trials in Eugene June 19-28.   We are also super excited about hosting the ACC Outdoor Championships this spring at Morris Williams Stadium May 14 to the 16.”

Indoor competition begins Saturday, January 11 at the Carolina Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. Duke travels to Blacksburg, Va., to compete in the two day Hokie invite on January 17-18, followed by the two-day Armory Collegiate in New York, N.Y., January 23-25.

The Blue Devils stay busy during the weekend of February 7-8, as they compete at the Camel City Invite in Winston-Salem, N.C., the Va Tech Invite in Blacksburg and the Meyo Invite (throws only) in South Bend, Ind. The next weekend, Duke travels to Clemson, S.C., and partakes in the Tiger Paw Invite.

The Va Tech Classic in Blacksburg and JDL/DMR in Winston-Salem Invite on February 21-22 are a prelude to the ACC Indoor Championships on February 27-29 in South Bend, Ind. The indoor season concludes with the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on March 13-14.

The outdoor season begins shortly after indoors, with the Blue Devils traveling to High Point, N.C., on March 22. March concludes with the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, and/or the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., on March 26-28.

Duke returns home Saturday, April 4 and hosts North Carolina in the Battle of the Blues in Morris Williams Stadium. The Blue Devils head to Knoxville, Tenn., on April 9-11 and to Azusa, Calif., on April 15-16. Following Azusa Pacific, Duke hosts the annual Duke Invite on April 17-18.

April ends with the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 23-25 and with the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville, Va., on the 25th. The Blue Devils open May with the Duke Twilight on Sunday, May 3, and stay home for the ACC Outdoor Championships May 14-16.

The outdoor season concludes with NCAA East Regional on May 28-30 in Lexington, Ky., NCAA Finals on June 10-13 in Austin and the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., on June 18-29.
