GREENSBORO, N.C. – Searching for its first conference victory of the season, the VMI women’s soccer team takes to the road once again for a third straight away game at UNCG set for Friday night at 7 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The game will be broadcast on the SoCon Digital Network.
The Keydets (1-11-1, 0-4 SoCon) look to return to the win column after last claiming victory on August 29 at Delaware State. VMI is coming off a tough 2-0 loss Sunday on the road at Furman and a 2-1 setback to Wofford in Spartanburg Friday night.
VMI has four different goal scorers to this point of the season all coming from its 4-0 win over Delaware State and one goal against Wofford last Friday. Whitney Edwards-Roberson, Maggie Beckman, Kiley Cropper and Maria Vargas (2) have tallied the scores this season for the Keydets.
Vargas also leads the team in shot attempts this season with 23 while Edwards-Roberson and Julianne Knoblett both have 20 on the year. Natalie Carpenter is close behind with 15 shots so far this season.

Travel partners with VMI, UNCG enters the match coming off a 1-0 victory over Wofford on Sunday and a 2-0 loss at the hands of Furman on Friday night. The Spartans also have league victories over Mercer (2-0) and a 4-2 win over The Citadel on Sept. 27. UNCG has out-of-conference wins over East Carolina, Elon and Gardner-Webb and close losses to Richmond, High Point, Davidson, Iowa and Arkansas.
Cienna Rideout, Gabi Santora and Kayla Campbell lead UNCG with three goals apiece on the season while Nicole Souply, Grace Regal and Isabelle Blomdahl are close behind with two. Eight other Spartans have solo scores to this point of the season.
Abby Buchholz has seen the most time at keeper with 800 minutes in the box and 25 saves while Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has played nearly 340 minutes with 21 saves.
