Four Wrestlers Named to Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Four Old Dominion wrestlers in Michael McGee, Killian Cardinale, Shane Jones and Dean Drugac have been named to the 2019 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team as announced by the league Monday morning. 

Two-time MAC Champion at 125 pounds, Michael McGee earned the award for the first time in his career. The sophomore owns a 3.45 GPA in Sports Management and has made the ODU Dean’s List twice. McGee is also a two-time NCAA Qualifier, having made the round of 12 this season in Pittsburgh. He also went undefeated in duals with a 16-0 mark. The Illinois native posted a 31-6 record during the 2018-2019 season.

Joining McGee, redshirt freshman Killian Cardinale has a 3.71 GPA. He has made the Dean’s List two times as a Monarch. The 133 pounder defeated Kent State’s Tim Rooney at the Virginia Duals in January.

Shane Jones represents the Monarchs at 165 pounds. Jones finished the season with a 19-18 record and finished in fifth at the 2019 MAC Championships. The History major owns a 3.27 GPA and is a member of the ODU Dean’s List.

184-pound redshirt sophomore Dean Drugac earned a spot on the team with a 3.74 GPA in Criminal Justice. Drugac has made the Dean’s List each semester since entering ODU.
