Patchin Field (Home of VMI Soccer)

VMI's soccer home games are played within the cozy confines of Patchin Field.

Located to the north of Institute Hill and build overtop Woods Creek, which still runs beneath it, Patchin Field offers separate practice and game fields for VMI lacrosse. Patchin Field House, located next to the baseball diamond, houses lacrosse locker room facilities, a storage room, and an auxiliary training room that features two whirlpools, a taping bench, and four treatment tables.

In 1994, a central irrigation system was installed at Patchin Field, vastly improving the quality of the natural grass playing surfaces. Plans are in the works to expand the facilities at Patchin Field, further enhancing the facilities VMI is able to offer the student-athlete.

Patchin Field is named after Herb Patchin, who was athletic trainer at VMI for 34 years.
