NEW YORK—The 2016-17 Columbia University Athletics Annual Report has been released online and is now available at this link.
The 102-page online publication celebrates and chronicles Columbia’s varsity athletic accomplishments in 2016-17. The online publication contains photos, video features, student-athlete features, year in review timeline, updates on various donor based projects, season in review for each sport and a listing of donors for each varsity sport. It is published and available each fall at www.gocolumbialions.
The 2016-17 academic year proved to be a successful one for Columbia Athletics. On the field, Columbia teams captured three national championships including a team title in archery and individual national titles in both men’s squash (Osama Khalifa) and archery (Bianca Gotuaco), three Ivy League team Championships (men’s soccer, men’s fencing and men’s tennis) and 18 individual Ivy League titles.
In the classroom, Columbia student-athletes combined for a 3.30 total cumulative grade point average, 398 student-athletes earned a semester Dean’s List honor and 67 achieved a perfect semester 4.0 grade point average.
Columbia also opened the Bubble at Baker its brand-new seasonal indoor practice facility at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. Utilized by varsity sports teams competing at the Baker Athletics Complex, the Bubble has already begun paying dividends for our teams in providing a practice facility during the winter months. In November 2016, Columbia Athletics also debuted its new brand identity and statement: #OnlyHere. #OnlyHere at Columbia can a student-athlete receive the best of all worlds—an Ivy League education, competition at the NCAA Division I level and the privilege of studying and living in the City of New York.
