JONESBORO, Ark. (11/20/19) – While the 2019 season is not quite in the books, Arkansas State head volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo excitedly announces a valuable addition to the squad for the 2020 season.
Standout middle blocker/right-side Mariah Hesselgesser is slated to join the Red Wolves, with Restrepo noting how she have an opportunity impact the program both on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
Mariah Hesselgesser capped off her high school career with another outstanding season at Argyle High School in Texas. Hesselgesser is an athletic, versatile middle who can also play on the right side. In 82 sets played in 2019, she tallied 231 kills (2.8 per set), including a blistering hitting percentage of .323. She also provided a strong blocking presence, ranking third on the team with 51 total blocks (13 solo). In 2018, she earned “Blocker of the Year” honors from the Denton Record-Chronicle.
“Mariah is a very dynamic and super athletic middle,” Restrepo said. “She will have an immediate impact on our program.”
