JONESBORO, Ark. (11/14/19) – Fresh off a historic finish at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Championships that saw the Arkansas State cross country teams claim a women’s league title and men’s runner-up finish, the team is slated for its second postseason test of the year on Friday.

The Red Wolves trek across the state to Fayetteville, where they will contend for a spot in the 2019 NCAA Championships at the South Central Regional Championships, held at the University of Arkansas’ Agri Park. Live results with splits will be available. More information on the championships can be found at the University of Arkansas’ cross country site.

A-State enters the meet ranked fifth in the region on the women’s side and sixth on the men’s after the conference championships, matching their highest in program history and the highest this season.

The day will start at 11 a.m. CT with the women’s 6K, which will consist of the top-ranked Southeastern Conference champion Arkansas, along with Texas, who was the top vote-getter in the most recent national rankings. After the women’s race, the men will take to the course in the 10K that is slated for a Noon CT start. The Longhorns are the lone nationally-ranked team in the men’s field, ranked 29th, while the Razorbacks received eight votes.

In the Red Wolves’ first appearance in Fayetteville earlier this season, the women finished ninth as a squad while the men earned an 11th-place finish in the high-caliber Chile Pepper Festival.

Last season in the regional championships, held in College Station, Texas, the A-State women finished 11th out of 29 teams to mark the ninth-straight year they finished among the top 15.

Should A-State advance through the regional round, it will head to Terre Haute, Indiana, for the 2019 NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23.
