JONESBORO, Ark. (11/1/19) – November is here, and that means postseason action is in the air for the Arkansas State cross country teams, starting with the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships, held Saturday in Hampton, Georgia.

The meet, hosted by Georgia State at Nash Farm Battlefield Park, opens up with the women’s 5K at 9 a.m. CT followed by the men’s 8K at 10 a.m. CT. The races will be covered live on ESPN+ with live results also available.

Since joining the Sun Belt Conference prior to the 1991 season, the A-State women have traditionally been one of the stronger squads in the league, winning the conference crown in 2013 and finishing inside the top three a total of three times while the men have finished high as fourth twice – in 1997 and most recently in 2013.

Both teams are looking to continue their strong campaigns that included top-10 finishes at the high-caliber Chile Pepper Festival earlier in the year.

Pauline Meyer returns as A-State’s top returnee from last season’s championship, placing eighth and earning Second Team All-Sun Belt accolades. The Red Wolves return four of their top seven on the women’s side and all seven on the men’s side.

A season ago in Mobile, Alabama, the women led A-State with a third-place team finish, while the men finished eighth.

All-conference honors will be awarded following the races based on individual placement. The top five runners will be First-Team All-Sun Belt, with 6-10 being named to the second team and 11-15 on the third team.
