BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU senior Jaelyn Richard-Harris will be serving a second year as the Co-Chair of the SEC Women’s Basketball Leadership Council for the 2019-20 season.

Richard-Harris, a guard from Houston, Texas, is in her third year on the SEC Women’s Basketball Leadership Council. Her co-chair is Arkansas’ Jailyn Mason. In addition to conference calls throughout the year and the recent in-person meeting at the SEC office in Birmingham on September 13-14, Richard-Harris will represent the council at the SEC Spring Meetings in May 2020.

The SEC Basketball Leadership Council consists of one male representative and one female representative from each of the SEC’s 14 institutions. The goal of the Leadership Council is for student-athletes to serve as a conduit of communication from their teams to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness, and to provide feedback on proposed rules governing the SEC and NCAA. The LSU men’s team representative is red-shirt freshman forward Aundre Hyatt.

The recent meeting in Birmingham highlighted topics on mental wellness, legislative feedback and review, SEC officials’ interaction and career exploration. Keyon Dooling, a former Missouri student-athlete, author, motivational speaker and former NBA player, delivered a presentation to the group on the topic of mental wellness.

The LSU women’s basketball team will begin its season on Tuesday, November 5 against New Orleans at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Season Tickets are available at LSUtix.net.
