“Our Tigers are thrilled to compete after spending four tremendous weeks training,” co-head coach Michael Sell said. “We’re excited to see the growth of our players and how they handle the tougher situations of a match. We’re also excited to see the freshmen getting their feet wet representing the Purple and Gold.”
In Milwaukee, senior Paris Corley, junior Eden Richardson, and freshmen Safiya Carrington and Nina Geissler will represent the Tigers while in Miami, junior Luba Vasilyuk, sophomore Anna Loughlan and freshman Maggie Cubitt will represent the team.
Last season, Richardson earned a team-high 22 wins on her way to a 22-12 overall record. Joining her at the top of the win list was Corley, who also earned 22 wins and finished with a 22-9 record.
In the 2019-20 ITA/Oracle Preseason Rankings released on Tuesday, three Tigers earned a spot in the polls. In singles, Richardson checks in at No. 11 while junior Taylor Bridges ranks No. 114. In doubles, the new pairing of Richardson and Carrington are ranked at No. 37.
The trio that made up LSU’s No. 10-ranked recruiting class in 2019 will make their debuts in Purple and Gold, competing in both singles and doubles at their respective tournaments.
