Lady Tigers Tennis Shutout by No. 17 Alabama
BATON ROUGE - The LSU Lady Tigers (6-4, 1-2 SEC) lost 4-0 to Alabama (8-2, 3-0 SEC) by a 4-0 margin in a rain-delayed match, which concluded as soon as it was clinched on Friday at W.T. Dub Robinson Stadium.
"Alabama just took it to us today," LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. "We've got to get ourselves together and get our energy back to prepare for Auburn."
Mary Anne Macfarlane, the No. 21 player in the nation, opened the action with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Olivia Howlett on court one.
Taylor Lindsey then defeated Yvette Vlaar 6-2, 6-2 on court six before Alexa Guarachi brought Alabama within a point of the match victory as she overcame Whitney Wolf 7-5, 6-1 on court two.
Alex Clay clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 result against Ebie Wilson on court four.
Two singles matches were not completed as Kaitlin Burns took the first set on court three, but was trailing 5-0 in the second to Courtney McLane before play was called. Keri Frankenberger dropped the first set in a tiebreaker 7-3, and was up 1-0 in the second on court five as the dual match ended.
The Lady Tigers next take the court at home on Sunday against Auburn with play set to get under way at noon CT.
