In the always-competitive Mid-American Conference, it's very easy to develop a rivalry with any number of league programs.

Western Michigan's primary rivals, however, are in-state programs Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. The Broncos joined the MAC in 1947 and both the Chippewas and Eagles entered the league in 1971. 

Football series record entering 2015 Football season: WMU leads 46-37-2.

Dating back to 1907 the Western Michigan and Central Michigan football rivalry is one that many fans look forward to every year. When these two teams meet you can leave the records out. Some of the greatest WMU football moments have occurred during this game.


Battle for the Cannon
The “Battle for the Cannon” trophy was established in between the respective student governments at Western Michigan and Central Michigan in 2008 and is presented to the winner of the annual WMU-CMU football game.


Michigan MAC Championship
Western Michigan, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan have battled for the Michigan MAC Championship each year since 2005 with the trophy going to team with the best record against the other two teams. A Michigan MAC Championship trophy is given during football season and men's basketball season.
