CLEMSON, S.C. – The Duke track and field team broke a pair of school records on Saturday at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson’s Indoor Track.

“We have some areas that we need to work on and some that are going extremely well,” said director of track and field Norm Ogilvie. “It was a good weekend overall. Both the men’s and women’s distance groups placed well. Breaking the two school records was the highlight. Various event groups produced things to be proud of. For most of the team, we’ll take the next two weeks to get ready for the ACC Championships.”

After qualifying for the ACC Championships in the 400m on Friday, Maddy Price added to her great weekend by breaking the school record in the 200m. She became the first Duke runner to finish in under 24 seconds, clocking a time of 23.73. Price now has the third fastest time in the ACC this season.

Also breaking a school record was Domonique Panton. Panton cleared 40-10.25 (12.45) in the triple jump, breaking Jodi Schlesinger’s 16-year-old school record. That puts her fourth in the ACC this season.

Closing out the day was the woman’s 4x400m relay. A quartet of Price, Brittany Aveni, India Lowe and MacKenzie Kerr raced to a time of 3:38.17. That is the fourth fastest time in program history and is fourth in the conference this season.

In the pole vault, Esteban Suarez set a personal-best when he cleared 16-2.75 (4.95). Suarez ranks fourth in the ACC so far this season.

In the 3,000m, four Blue Devils finished in the top 10. For the women, Sheridan Wilbur took fourth place with a time of 10:07.01. On the men’s side, Alex Miley paced Duke with a time of 8:29.95 to finish in fifth. Nikhil Pulimood came in seventh with a time of 8:30.82 and Paul Dellinger was right behind him in eighth with a time of 8:32.98.

Duke will next travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the UCS Invitational, starting on Feb. 16.
