DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Alexis Jones totaled 29 points and turned in a 5-of-8 shooting performance from three-point range to lead all players in the Duke women’s basketball team’s annual Blue/White Scrimmage Sunday, Oct. 27 in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Assistant coaches Al Brown, Candice M. Jackson and Hernando Planells directed the Blue Devils through four 10-minute quarters of play with Duke going up against the program’s scout squad in the final quarter.

Seniors Tricia Liston and Haley Peters each contributed 20 points while classmate Chelsea Gray recorded eight points and dished five assists in her first action in Cameron since suffering a season-ending injury in the 25th contest last year. Freshman Oderah Chidom paced Duke on the boards, logging a team-high 14 rebounds, and junior Elizabeth Williams also reached double-figures in the rebound category with 10.

“We are learning to play together,” said head coach Joanne P. McCallie. “We aren’t all the way there yet, but it’s good to be out there together and challenging ourselves.”

Several other returners had strong performances in the intra-squad scrimmage, with senior Richa Jackson tallying 15 points and junior Ka’lia Johnson adding 13 on 4-for-5 shooting from the field. Johnson also pulled down seven rebounds in 34 minutes of play. In her first appearance since her freshman season, junior Amber Henson totaled four points, one rebound and an assist.

Freshmen Kendall McCravey-Cooper and Chidom made their debuts in Cameron Indoor Sunday, displaying what they will contribute to the squad this season. Chidom registered three points to go with her 14 rebounds while McCravey-Cooper finished with two points and five rebounds.

“It felt good it was good to be back out there – I missed it,” Gray said. “It was good to be out there with my team and to really get everybody else involved.”

Up next, Duke will host its first exhibition game of the season against Glenville State College Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. The team will then face Coker College in its final exhibition game Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. before opening up the regular season Sunday, Nov. 10 at California in a 6 p.m. tilt. The season opener will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
