GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight year, UNC Greensboro men’s golf has won its annual fall tournament as the Spartans (288-296-292) scored a nine-stroke victory over Rutgers in the 2019 Grandover Collegiate. 

Junior Nick Lyerly (69-73-71) took home individual medalists honors for the fourth time in his career, as he was the only participant in the tournament to finish under-par, three strokes better than the rest of the field. 

Junior Zack Swanson (73-74-70) also collected his best finish of fall play in fourth place, as he finished Monday’s third round at two-under par. 

Senior Jonathan Brightwell (72-73-76) completed the third round at four-over 76 to finish in a tie for 11thplace. During fall play, Brightwell – who entered the tournament as the No. 9 ranked player nationally in Golfstat – won individual medalist honors twice.  

Junior Justin Emmons (74-76-75), meanwhile, finished tied for 18thplace as he was three-over 75 in the third round. 

Freshman Symon Balbin (78-76-78) closed out team play for the Spartans, as he finished the tournament at 16-over par. 

Freshman Jack Marcotte (77-72-77) was the top finisher amongst UNCG individuals, as he finished tied for 20thplace. 

Seniors Grant Powell (77-79-77), Ben Buben (75-84-74) and Michael Wicker (76-77-80) all finished tie for 47thplace while freshman Noah Connor (73-83-78) finished tied for 52ndplace. 

Sophomore Ben Crow (76-87-81) rounded out play for the Spartans in a 70thplace finish.
