CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Starting the second half of league play, UNC Greensboro volleyball (9-14, 3-6 SoCon) on Friday night dropped a three-set match to Western Carolina, falling 3-0 (21-25, 16-25, 23-25) in the Ramsey Center.

--Junior Maria Esch collected a game-high 19 kills.
--Freshman Gabriela McHugh posted 33 of the Spartans’ 35 assists on the night.
--Three different Spartans recorded double-digit dig totals, led by sophomore Mandy Garvens with 22.
The Spartans will close out the weekend’s action facing ETSU tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn.
The 2019 season is a special one for the program, as UNCG volleyball is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The program hosted a special celebration during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19. The weekend included a program history celebration luncheon and recognition of several distinguished alumni from the program’s past.
