GREENSBORO, N.C. - After hanging six goals on Gardner-Webb just four days prior, UNCG women's soccer secured its second straight win this week with a 4-3 victory over visiting Elon. Freshman Gabi Santora notched a brace in the Spartans' midweek victory, including an 88th minute tally that proved to be the difference maker on the night.

"That was a big part of recruiting her [Gabi Santora]," said Head Coach Michael Coll post match. "She is a fantastic ball striker. As far as young players go, I'd have her in the top quadrant of ball strikers in the whole country."

The Spartans took the lead three times on the evening just to see the visiting Phoenix come back with an equalizer, before Santora's late finish put Thursday's contest on ice. Cienna Rideout opened up the scoring for UNCG in the 21st minute, finishing her second goal of the past two matches on a well placed cross from Marissa Ferrantino.

After Elon managed to tie things up at one apiece, Santora tallied the first of her career in the 42nd to ensure the home side would take a 2-1 lead into the break. Lining up for a free kick just a foot off the 18, the Boca Raton native delivered a driven ball into the top right corner before the Phoenix keeper could get her feet set.

The match would open up even more at the start of the second with the two sides combining for three goals in the first 15 minutes of the term. The Phoenix knotted things at two apiece, but would see their celebration short-lived as sophomore midfielder Jordin Mosley delivered a perfect backdoor pass for Isabelle Blomdahl, who put the Spartans back out in front.

With Elon putting away its third of the contest in the 60th, both teams would continue to push for the go ahead, but it would be another impressive strike from Santora to ultimately decide the day. Finding space nearly 40 yards outside the frame of goal, the freshman took a pair of touches forward before delivering a strike into the top right upper-90. With just three minutes remaining on the clock, Coach Coll's side was able to play behind the ball in the waning minutes, finishing off its second straight win on a 4-3 differential.

"...We've got good players," said Coll. "So we put in a couple of changes and told them their job, and knew that they were going to do it exactly. Elon's a very tough team to play against, but I'm thankful that we got the win tonight, and that was a fantastic winning goal."
