EASTON, Pa. – Sophomore Alexa Gostovich placed 22nd in a field of 73 racers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a fourth-place team finish in a field of seven teams at the 2018 Lafayette Leopard Invitational, held at Lafayette College's Metzgar Fields on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 107 points with an average 6k time of 25:37.

Paced by a 6:41.6 average mile, Gostovich crossed the finish line in a season-best 6k time of 24:57.3 to lead the Hawks for the second time this season.

Junior Joanna DeSousa followed up with a 29th-place performance in 25:32.8, while junior Samantha Mayers (25:48.1), sophomore Molly Jacobs (25:50.8), and freshman Casey Clarke (25:57.8 PR) rounded out the Hawks' scoring group in 32nd, 33rd, and 34th, respectively; Clarke's performance marked the first 6k race of her collegiate career. 

Freshman Ashley Martin (26:00.4 PR) and junior Michaela Urbach (26:05.7) finished as SJU's #6 and #7 runners. 

Saint Joseph's begins championship season at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship, set for Saturday, October 27 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va.
