Saint Joseph's women's soccer head coach Jess Mannella has announced the Hawks' regular season schedule for 2019. Among the 18 games on the slate are eight home contests and a pair of matches versus NCAA Tournament squads.
The Hawks begin their season with road games at local rivals Drexel (August 22) and Villanova (August 25) before opening the home portion of the schedule with three straight matches on Sweeney Field. Saint Joseph's hosts reigning Ivy League champions Princeton on August 30 and then takes on Stony Brook (September 1) and James Madison (September 5)
A five-game road swing follows for the Hawks as they cap non-conference play with contests at Pittsburgh (September 8), Columbia (September 12) and Lehigh (September 15), then open Atlantic 10 play at Davidson (September 22) and St. Bonaventure (September 26).
Saint Joseph's hosts three of its next four games as it takes on Massachusetts on September 29 at Sweeney Field, then travels to A-10 champion Saint Louis (October 3) before returning home to to face La Salle (October 6) and Duquesne (October 13). After a road match at George Washington (October 17), the Hawks play Fordham (October 20) and Rhode Island (October 24) at Sweeney Field and wrap up the regular season at Richmond on October 27.
For the third-straight year, the A-10 Championship opening rounds will be held on the campus of the higher seeds. With matches set for November 2 and 3, the four winning teams will then advance to play at Saint Louis' Hermann Stadium in the semifinals on November 8. The championship finale is set for November 10 with the winner earning the A-10’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Saint Joseph's is coming off a 14-5-2 campaign in 2018 and advanced to the semifinals of the A-10 Championship.
