UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the fifth time this season, senior captain Lindsey Oremus finished as SJU's top runner to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to an 18th-place showing in a field of 30 teams at the 2018 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted at Penn State University's Blue-White Golf Course on Friday afternoon. In cold and rainy conditions, the Hawks totaled 494 points and an average 6k time of 23:05 for the race, with a 0:52 spread.

Oremus led the Hawks with the 13th sub-23:00 6k performance of her collegiate career, crossing in 22:36 at a 6:03 pace for 68th overall.

SJU's consistent #2 all season, senior captain Elaine Estes crossed in 23:02 for 94th overall.

In the first regional meet of her collegiate career, junior Emily Schaeffer followed suite with her highest finish in SJU's rotation of the season (#3), crossing in a collegiate-best time of 23:08 for 102nd overall. Schaeffer edged out Navy's Emily Craig and UMBC's Kelsey Ponton at the finish en route to crushing her 6k PR, set earlier in the season at the Paul Short Run, by 15 seconds.

Senior captain Lucy Harmon crossed just seconds behind Schaeffer in 23:11 (106th) while junior Emily Bracken rounded out the scoring with a time of 23:27 (124th).

Senior Sara Rankin (153rd, 24:05) and senior captain Britton Gagliardi (165th, 24:16) finished as SJU's #6 and #7 runners; Rankin ran over an entire minute faster than her performance at Penn State earlier this season.

Of note, captains Oremus and Gagliardi made SJU's regional roster in all four of their cross country seasons on Hawk Hill.

The entire squad will come back together for the 2018 season finale at the ECAC Championship next Saturday, November 17. The Coaches' Race (5k) is set for 10:45 a.m. while the Championship Race (5k) will kick off at noon at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
