NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion baseball head coach Chris Finwood released the 2020 baseball schedule Monday afternoon.

"We are very excited about this years schedule. We have five straight weekends at home at the beginning of the season so hopefully we can play well and get off to a good start," explained Finwood.

The 2020 slate opens with seven-straight home matchups. The Monarchs will host Towson (Feb. 14-16) in their season opener. The Towson series will kick-off 14 straight home games at the Bud. The Monarchs will continue their home stand as they welcome Holy Cross (Feb. 21-23), Yale (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) and Rutgers (Mar. 6-8) for non-conference series.

Midweek home tilts include VMI (Mar. 3), Norfolk State (Mar. 10), Princeton (Mar. 17,18), William & Mary (Apr. 8), ECU (Apr. 22) and VCU (May 6). For midweek games on the road, ODU will have VCU (Feb. 26), Campbell (Feb. 26), William & Mary (Mar. 25), ECU (Mar. 31), Virginia (Apr. 14) and Virginia Tech (May 12).

"We have another good non-conference schedule with home and homes against UVA, ECU, VCU and William & Mary, as well as a road game at Virginia Tech. These are all quality programs that can help contribute to a good RPI if you can win them. We went 11-2 last year in midweek games, which was fantastic."

Highlighting the Monarchs schedule is the annual Harbor Park game, where ODU will take on Virginia on April 28.

In C-USA action, ODU hosts FAU (Mar. 6-8), WKU (Mar. 27-29), UAB (Apr. 10-12), Southern Miss (May 1-3) and UTSA (May 14-16). On the road, ODU will face Charlotte (Mar. 20-22), FIU (Apr. 3-5), Rice (Apr. 17-19), LA Tech (Apr. 24-26) and Marshall (May 8-10).

Overall, ODU will face four opponents in Campbell, FAU, ECU and Southern Miss who earned bids to the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Thirty-five games will be played at the Bud Metheny Complex, while 21 will be on the road.

"Our C-USA schedule has us at home against the top two teams from last year in FAU and Southern Miss, so we hope that helps us as well. With 35 home games this year being the most we have ever played at home, we hope to create a good home field advantage for our ballclub.”

The 2020 C-USA Tournament will be held May 20-24 at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi, for the fourth consecutive season.
