Amanda Caruso Named ODU Recipient of C-USA Winter Spirit of Service Award

IRVING, TEXAS – Old Dominion University women’s swimming and diving junior Amanda Caruso was named ODU’s recipient of the winter sports Spirit of Service Award, C-USA announced on Wednesday.

The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league’s student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today’s honorees representing Conference USA’s fall sports: football, soccer, volleyball and cross country.

A native of Downington, Pennsylvania, Caruso holds a 3.38 GPA in mechanical engineering. She placed 14that the Conference USA Championships in the 1 and 3-meter dives this year, and finished 12thin the 3-meter dive as a sophomore.

Caruso will be taking part in the NCAA Leadership Forum this weekend in Orlando, Florida.

The Leadership Forum, created in 1997, has been a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 student-athletes, many who have grown personally and professionally, gained a new network of peers and friends, as well as felt the rewards and importance of community service.
