ODU Finishes in Sixth Place at C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. – Jacklyn VandePoel and Emilie Petit led Old Dominion with fifth place finishes on the final day of the Conference USA Championships on Saturday night in Atlanta. ODU finished in sixth place overall.

In the opening event of the night, Alex Pappas finished in ninth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:09.43, while Madison Sitton took 16thin 18:01.99. Later in the meet Pappas finished in 15thin the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:06.99.

Jacklyn VandePoel rounded out her solid C-USA Championships by taking fifth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.37. Earlier in the week she earned a fourth place in the 500 freestyle and a sixth in the 100 backstroke.

Becca Mayo added a 15thplace spot in the 200 backstroke in 2:06.59.

Emilie Petit finished in fifth place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.29. Petit had ODU’s top finish of the championships the previous night with a third place in the 400 IM.

FIU won the C-USA Championships for the fifth-straight year.
