NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 27, 2000) -- The second-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team posted a 9-0 shutout win over Colonial Athletic Association foe American Wednesday evening at Foreman Field on the campus of Old Dominion University. With the win, Old Dominion improves to 9-1 overall (3-0 CAA) while American falls to 4-4 overall/1-2 CAA.

Honda Award hopeful Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) led the scoring attack with four goals for the winners. Junior forward Laura Steadman (Virginia Beach, Va.) added a three-goal, one-assist effort on the night. Old Dominion collected its sixth shutout in seven games.

The Lady Monarchs will be on a northern road trip this weekend, playing at Boston University (Saturday) and Northeastern (Sunday).
